Message #6

Yet another message that I was able to snatch! This is at least as weird as the previous ones. No matter which way I turn it, I just can't recognize anything in it.

  1. Hi,

This one seems to be a QR code leading to another QR code:
    goo.gl/1gPYR

Anyone out there who could "untwist" it?

  2. Let's twist again can be solved by moving first row one pixel left, second row two pixels left etc.:

How about this next one? It looks like we need to do some matrix calculations to figure out the code.

  3. Thanks Aleksi for solving the first two! I think the third one is way over my head, but then again I wouldn't have been able to solve the first two either. I'm sure there's someone who can do it. Anyone have any ideas?

  4. Hi!
I think I solved this one.
When you have a gray pixel on the downscaled image, you know there were white and black pixels on the original one. If you have white, you know there were two whites. Black pixel means two blacks. With simple logic, you can recreate the original image from the two halves. Only problem is when the pixels on the both images are gray. Then you have two possible ways to have the white and black pixels, both produce the same scaled-down images. I chose randomly between the two ways and thanks to qr error correction got the next link, which led to the qr-encoded message:

Richard and Buck kept constantly developing the idea they had already named as "Toilworn Diamond". They were ecstatic about the development of technology in the 80's and were very optimistic that one day in the future, computers could actually understand humans, instead of just performing emotionless calculations. More than anything, they wanted to be the people who would make it happen.

    1. Incredible job Ville! I'm amazed you figured all that out! And thanks for letting us know about that message as well. Apparently Richard and Buck have been working on that project quite a while now...
